What products need to be registered in the UAE?

In the UAE - food, cosmetics and medical products are required to be registered with Dubai Municipality (DM) or the relevant municipality in your licensing Emirate.

Product Registration is required as part of the UAE's regulations and control for consumer health and safety. It ensures that the products are correctly labeled and convey all the appropriate information about the make, ingredients, and quality of the product. Product registration ensures compliance with UAE product standards and helps to protect the business and consumer from risk.

Registering your products through the relevant Emirate Municipality ensures that your products are fit for the market.

What is the process of product registration in the UAE?

To import or manufacture products in the UAE, an appropriate and valid UAE mainland or freezone license would be required. The process of registering your products across the Emirates would be very similar.

With each product registration type, the requirements and documentation will be a little different.

For example, for food product registration in Dubai, companies are required to apply for product registration through the Food Import Request System (FIRS) dubai municipality login. Document upload requirements will include barcode information, labelling information in Arabic or English, ingredient list etc.

Certificate of Origin for Product Registration

The document requirements for product registration in the UAE will vary slightly based on the type of products. For locally produced products, a Certificate of Origin will be required as part of the export requirements which is used to authenticate the origin of the exported goods.
